Batiks are a very old technique, dating back to Egyptian times. However, I have put a new spin on the traditional dipping method that was once use and have developed a contemporary form of batiks using watercolors just as I painted them, well between the many layers of lifting the wax and replacing it. The final product has turned out to be an excellent medium to work with, always challenging, never forgiving but isn't that what makes watercolors set apart from other mediums? I have to give credit to a group of high school students that I was teaching. They were having difficulty transitioning from oil and acrylic to watercolor. As you may have tried...the first attempt may be either muddy or holds very little depth. After my first day of class and it became a disaster of mud, I quickly decided the HS's would learn best from the use of the medium by learning patients as well. Once this succeeded I then developed the style much further as you know it today. I am happy to share my expressions on canvas with you.

Docked
Hey Everyone! This is one of my new pieces. I like painting large, the messier the better! Have had a lot of time to create since we are all at home due to the isolation orders. But it has been very beneficial. I Thank the Strong, Amazing People on the front line that make life possible for us.

Double Stuffed
As you can tell I love the Beach and all the wonderful smells and treats that go along with time spent there. This gentleman, as everyone has witnessed someone that reminds them of him on the Beach was a good memory and I added the play on words. I imagine this would look perfect in someone's bathroom or pool house or even a lake house. What a great conversation piece it would make.

Painfully Beautiful
It was a very hot day out on a job site when I came upon, literally a rose in the midst of all the dirt. This cactus had lived in spite of the surrounding advancements. What a beautiful sight to see at that time. The cactus flower will always be a resilient sign for me, of how to withstand anything.

Dew Catcher
The contemporary form of the petals and the peaceful quiet captured when admiring the painting of the blossom takes you to another place in time. A quiet place...

A-Drift
Somehow I can image my self drifting in this slow steady water. The softness shared in the painting as well as the emphasis on the reflection reveals the many changing colors we have in our lives.

Garden's Pick
Our warm sunny days of summer give us many things to be thankful for but I do enjoy the special pick of flowers to bring inside from ones own garden. Even if you don't own a green thumb, you may own this painting to enjoy those special days.
Event Going To Happen!
Now that we are coming closer to the life we once knew but in a staged setting we can appreciate the many privileges we once took for granted. I wanted to invite you to a fantastic Fine Art Festival since we missed so many in the recent past months and Yes! it is going to take place.
It will be held in Frederick, Oklahoma on September 19, 2020 from 9 am to 3 pm.
Plan to join us and enjoy the day with beautiful art, great food, and music. This is the 48th year the Frederick Fine Arts & Humanities Council has held the event and my 3rd year exhibiting. This is a closed exhibit, the artist may exhibit their work by invitation only. Therefore, you will be provided with the best examples of Fine Art Work to choose from.
Hope to see you there!
News!
This has been a long summer with all the heavy hearts for the victims of the COVID, I am afraid it is not showing signs of decreasing either. As many artist and other small business owners have had to do I have turned to the internet.
Entering, judged and accepted in Galleries in St. Charles, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Eugene, Oregon; Taos, New Mexico; Evergreen, Colorado and the Watercolor Societies in the Southern States, Southwestern States and various other National Watercolor venues I have been invited to exhibit at many fine Galleries in the United States winning awards for my art work.
Painting has kept me busy during this time, however the many lives effected by this horrible virus plays on my soul. The new normal as it is called may end up being the reality we must live with. Fingers crossed and prayers for the fine people working on a cure and helping the afflicted.
Events close to home that have not been cancelled as of today...however numbers rise and I believe it may be a matter of time.
So far here are places in September you may see my work first hand...as of today!
